I
live in a strongly Democratic suburb - Hyde Park Illinois, home of
Barack Obama and you have huge support there. The nation has changed,
time has proved many of your ideas right. The Democratic failure at
the last election was not a lack of message it was the lack of a good
leader who can inspire the people. We are all drooling at the mouth,
certified raving liberals in Hyde Park but we had to force ourselves
to vote for Kerry in the election. If it was so hard for raging
democrats how hard was it for others! Obama has charisma, but
is a little green. The nation is ready for you now. If Al Gore doesnt
run, there will be a dearth of inspiring candidates |

There
are a million and one reasons why George W. Bush and the republican
party should not retain their grip on the majority and the
Presidency. All of these are negative and I no longer want to rattle
that sabre. There is only one reason why Al Gore should run as
President, we need him. We need truth, we need justice, and dare I
say it, we need the American way: which in my opinion is the ability
to see a problem and attempt to solve it. The Republicans wil not see
this problem of Global Warming. They will "say" they see
it, they will "say" they will do soething about it. This
will then be redirected with other issues "more important"
to the Republican cause. You name it Terrorism, Iran, North Korea
there are so many its a veridible Red Herring field day. If Al Gore
is serious about taking on the environment it is the single biggest
challenge EVER taken on by a potential president. No other subject is
more encompassing. None. This is a snow ball that has turned into an
avalache and soon will turn into a landslide and so on. I fully
support Al Gore because I believe in him. I believe he wants to try
to make the environment a better place for human habitation. If he
runs for the Presidency in 2008 and places at the doorstep of every
American this problem of Global Warming, and yet still loses, he has
not actually lost....he has educated and informed, and there is no
greater tool to enact change than to educate and to inform.

Dear
Sir,
I
write to you on behalf of myself, my children, my country, and the
world in hope that you will please run for President in 2008. I
have come to believe that you are the only person who can heal the
faith and trust in the citizens of the United States, that our
government has the peoples best interest in heart and mind. Our
country and even our survival as human beings has fallen into a state
of emergency. The clock is ticking and the United States and
the planet is running out of time. I do have faith that you
will not let the future of your family, my family, and the United
States to continue to go down this path of self-destruction.
I
know that what I am asking of you will eventually create policies
that will ripple across this nation and around the world,
economically and environmentally, but it is the job that must be
done. Mr. Gore you are the man to lead us through these changes!
In
the past I have been a passive Democrat. I had taken our right
to vote for granted, and I had not given serious attention to many
issues. I supported President Clinton and yourself, as well as,
for you in 2004, but I have come to realize that that is not
enough. I am still in disbelief that not only was Bush
elected(?) once, but that he and his cabinet has remained for another term.
I
pledge to you Mr. Gore that if you will put in the work and run for
the Presidency, I will work for you by stuffing envelopes, posting
flyers, posters, and campaigning for you door to door. I will work to
see that your ideas on how we as a country can heal ourselves, the
environment, and provide a future our families will be heard
throughout my community.
I
believe in my heart that you know that this is the path you must
take, and We Will Not Let You Fail!

Dear
Mr. Gore,
Iraq
has become the new Vietnam, our economy is deep in the red, the
number of people below the level of poverty is increasing, the number
of people without health insurance is also increasing, our planet is
becoming more and more polluted, hatred towards the west and America
is increasing in the Middle East.
Our
next President should be someone who knows the facts, who
understands that long term goals are more important than quick fixes,
who has respect and understanding for both sides of a confict. Our
next President should be able to select dedicated experts to assist
him/her and should reward the achievement of their goals and not of
their failures. Our next President should have true compassion and
empathy for the common man. Our next President should be willing to
compromise when needed but without selling the own soul. Our next
President to be able to change course if his/her original approach
fails and should learn from mistakes.
It
is for all these reasons that, Mr. Gore, I beg you to run. None of
the other contenders have even half of the qualities that I mentioned
above. None of them seem capable to inspire intelligent people. Few
of them have the backbone to resist to a very powerful conservative
propaganda machine. RUN, AL, RUN!!!!!

An
Open Letter To President Al Gore And Family From John Cortese
Dear
President Gore,
I
open by addressing you as such because as far as I'm concerned you
were elected President in 2000 and we both got cheated along with the
rest of America and the world. Since then I have lived with a
broken heart, just as you and your family must have. Now, all
these years later, I've had all I can take of that destructive
exercise in incompetent governance called "The Bush Presidency".
Not
withstanding the fact that the opening sequence of Michael Moores
film, "Farenheight 911" haunts me every day (that's not an
exaggeration), I have made a two-part personal decision that I'd like
to share with you.
Part
one: If you run for President in 08' I will work for you in any way
I can that you and your campaign see fit.
Part
two: If you don't run for President in 08' I'm not voting!
I'm
not telling you this because I'm angry, disillusioned or ashamed of
my country (although I am). Nor am I telling you this because I
fear that "The American Experiment" has passed the point of
no return and is headed for failure (which it may well be).
No
Mr. President. I'm telling you this despite the
above-mentioned reasons because I believe in my heart that you are
the best choice to lead our country back from the abyss toward a
renewal that just might save it by rekindling the promise of "An
American Dream" for our children and grandchildren for
generations to come.
Mr.
President, I may be the least qualified person in America to make
this plea for reasons that are too many too list. But I don't
care about that because, simply put, facts and truth are "facts
and truth" by virtue of their existence, irrespective of the
messenger. Therefore, I am the messenger and I hope you will hear me out.
You
are a religious man and I respect that in you because you draw the
strength to do the things you must from your faith, paramount among
them conceding victory to George Bush in 2000. Having said that, I
must tell you candidly; I am not a religious man in any sense of the
word and feel compelled to make that clear before making my next point.
I
suspect that if you had persevered and ultimately taken office in
2000, September 11th might not have happened. Emphasis on
"might". But for the sake of argument, let's say it
still would have. In that event I trust you would have taken a
different, more productive path and would have been a superior
"War Time President" who waged a better thought and better
fought "War On Terrorism" with more constructive results
than George Bush. Moreover America would be better off.
But
had that happened America and the world would have lost a greater
opportunity. The opportunity to have "The Free Worlds
first Environmental President". Your greatest potential
contribution would have been shunted aside for that war on terrorism,
albeit a different war than the one we've known.
My
point Mr. President, is that whatever the reason, God, fate,
providence, poetic justice, whatever rings poignant in you
philosophical view, your time is now!
You
are the premier figure on the world stage when it comes to the
environment and as you worst/best friend Bill Clinton recently said,
"Global warming poses a much bigger threat to mankind than terrorism".
Like
Richard Nixon, eight years is a political eternity for a man who may
have been cheated. Unlike Nixon though, you don't need
reinventing and there is no dark place in you heart that would cause
you to engage in Nixonian style treachery in pursuit of your legacy.
Mr.
President, John Kerry would have been a much better choice than
George Bush, as would Senator Clinton, John Edwards or Rudi Giuliani
for that matter. But America doesn't need a better President
after what we've been through. We need a great President!
The
problem is great Presidents aren't just born that way. Nor are
they just ordinary people in the right place at the right time.
On occasion world events and individuals with special qualities and
special qualifications converge at a moment in history in order to
provide mankind with its Churchill's, its FDR's and its
Lincoln's. Is that fate? Is it destiny? Is it
God? I don't know. But it happens every now and then just
the same.
It
would be a "Shakespearian Moment" in American political
history for the world to watch as George Bush bore witness to your
inauguration, knowing in his heart that it will be left to you to
undo all the damage he's done.
But
more important than poetic justice, more poignant than second
chances, even more gratifying than finally just being rid of George
Bush and his ilk once and for all is the simple fact the future of
mankind needs someone like you Mr. President. And as far as I
can tell, you're the only Al Gore we've got.

Dear
Al Gore and the American People:
believe Al
Gore will become president in 2008. There is nobody out there
that actually WANTS to be president more than Al Gore, and to me,
that's old school politics. I voted for Ralph Nader and have
voted for my first Democrat in 2004. But I've always been
concerned about the state of the world's affairs in regards to global warming.
Now that
people are actually interested, and shows like 60 Minutes are
uncovering the scary truth, I can't think of anyone better to serve
our country and pass radical new laws that will prolong this
precious, precious one-of-a-kind planet. And I also can't think
of a better president to instill good morals in our youth and
culture. Yes, the world needs Al Gore, our lives and future
depend on it.
Pollution has
gotten out of control and nobody asks: How about an alternative
fuel, one that doesn't hurt our planet? How about NOT building
more roads, but building fewer cars or mass producing cars that run
on hydrogen?
As Kurt
Vonnegut Jr. said, we have become a parasite on the planet Earth and
it's trying to eradicate us by whatever means possible, i.e. severe
weather, etc.
And finally,
the main reason we need Al Gore is because he won't change his stance
on the utter emergency in regards to the world's health.
Most
presidents try to compare themselves to other presidents in history
who have gone down as "greats." In my opinion, there
hasn't been a great president in a very long time, and in many
instances the media makes things look better than they really
are. I do believe that unfortunate incidents and minor
decisions made at times in history help contribute to how bad a
president is perceived. I think Jimmy Carter is a fine example
of someone who was president during a point in culture when things
were about to radically change. Personal computers and
other technologies exploded right after Carter's run, and it was just
coincidence, nothing more, but the lack of prosperity and some of the
dismal situations he inherited with foreign policies and economies
helped contribute to people percieving him as a weak president.
George W. Bush has surpassed Carter, in my opinion, of being a weak
president. War is outdated, and the state of the Earth's health
is horrible for many, many reaons. We need major discoveries in
medicine and technology. We need to promote these
discoveries. Among many other things that are soley based on
social constructs, the time for presidents to ponder over whether or
not homosexuality or flag burning is right or wrong is a waste of
time. There are bigger and better things to worry about.
Thank the Lord
Gore didn't win in 2000, because it wasn't his time. There need
to be major MAJOR changes in the processes of everyday life,
otherwise we as a species are on the road to becoming extinct.
We need a president to begin the "Star Trekian" way of
life, the peaceful non-polluted future. Al Gore is going to
TRULY bring us into the future. He is smart, dedicated, and
born to lead the greatest country ever constructed via ideas for
prosperity. He will go down as one of the greatest presidents
to ever walk the Earth only because he isn't trying to be the
greatest president, he's a natural.

Dear
Mr. Gore,
As the
father of three; ages 7, 6, and 3, as well as a school psychologist
working in our public school system I consider myself a family man
and one who has a strong investment in our future generations. I also
realize the tremendous impact the President of the United States has
on the course we set for ourselves, our children, and our children's
children. I have many significant concerns about the path the current
administration is taking us down. This is a path you warned us about
in 2000. I have followed your political career for the past twenty
years and have been greatly impressed with your integrity, foresight,
wisdom, and compassion. Indeed, many times you have been ahead of
your time. These are the leadership qualities that we as a country
have been sorely lacking and desperately need.
I am
aware of your recent comments regarding your political future and I
certainly understand your reservations; however, I must ask you to
reconsider. The list of potential Democratic presidential contenders
are either too divisive across the country or do not come close to
the international, domestic, and environmental experience that you
possess. In addition, I believe the Republican nominees will be
significantly weakened by their track record during the current
administration. Mr. Gore your time has come and I urge you to seize
the day.
Sincerely,

So much
has already been written, that I feel redundant to repeat. I agree
with the other petitioners. I do have empathy for you in that the
scam of 2000 could be repeated. You are a humble man. In that, I
believe the risk is worth the potential gain. We do need a leader
such as you. The Great Shift is happening. The Golden Age is coming.
Wont you see to it that the citizens of the World are prepared?
I will solemnly promise to organize a picket at the Capitol if the
elections are rigged again. You have had time to gain powerful

Dear
Vice President Gore,
I caught
the end of your speech on C-Span tonight, at first I only half
listened as I busied myself with paper work. Then the sheer
brilliance and power of your words and voice seemed to reach right
through the television and grab hold of me. I was riveted, and by the
end, in tears.
I cried
when you conceded in 2000 because I knew what this nation would
endure under Bush. I cried again tonight, realizing how different
things would be for us all if you hadnt been robbed of the
presidency. We would not be at war, we would be doing something about
global warming, we would be taking care of the poor and the elderly,
we would be moving towards universal health care, we wouldnt be
bankrupting our children so that the wealthy could have their tax
breaks&ldots;we would be the America my children deserve. Instead,
were becoming a police state.
I am
writing this letter to beg you to run in 2008. You are the only hope
the Democrats have. You have been through hell and back, have gone on
to private life, gotten out of Washington, had time to reflect, to
grow in wisdom and in stature. You are a different man now, a free
man, it seems to me. A man who seems compelled to speak the truth. A
man on fire. A man with a mission.
We
need you, America needs you. Please run in 2008. Please!

Dear
Al Gore
I have been a
registered voter since I was seventeen years old but at that time I
registered as a Republican. Fortunately, several years ago I came
home to the Democratic Party and have not had any regrets in doing
so. I come from a long line of Republicans in my family. There are
only three in my family (including me) that are Democrats.
The election
in 2000 was stolen from you by a man who gets what he wants by using
money and power to do it. This is against everything that this
country stands for. You clearly won that election and no one disputes this.
You are the
only choice for the Presidency. If Bush had not bought his way into
the Presidency then we would not be at war and 9/11 would not have
happened. That was a horrible day for our country. I lost co-workers
on the two American Airline flights.
I believe that
the United States of America needs a good man with moral fiber and
who cares about the American people, the environment, education,
social security and so on. That man is you, Former Vice-President Al
Gore. America cannot afford to have the Republican party in the White
House anymore. The American people need you and only you.
I
applaud all your work that you do for the American people.

Dear
Vice President Gore,
I've
voted in every election since 1934, but I was proudest when I voted
for you in 2000. This time, your run will be easier, as a greater
majority of people see the reality of your warnings, to save our
country and stop the abuse of the earth. But I don't expect to be
here for the 2008 election, as I'm over 92 1/2, and living on
borrowed time. When you are finally sworn in as President, you might
improve on an old tradition. Instead of placing your hand on the
Bible, it may be more appropriate to place it on the Constitution of
the United States, to demonstrate your reverence for the
Constitution, and to emphasize the separation of state and church.
It would
thrill me beyond description to imagine this.
I'd like
to have a "Re-elect Gore" bumper sticker for my wheelchair
to replace my "Impeach Bush" bumper sticker with something
more hopeful. If this is my last wish, so be it.
Very
Respectfully, Bella Kudatsky Newton Center, MA.

I would like
for you to please consider running for President of the United
States! I loved you and I voted for you in California, where I
was living in 2000. I am now living in Alabama and I saw the
great broadcast on C-SPAN a couple of times. And with every
time I saw it, it brought tears to my eyes. When I think about
how Georgie Porgie stole the election of 2000 through his creeps, who
wanted him to win in FL, and we know what happened to all of the
voters, both black and white and all of the machines that he had made
sure were in place. That will NOT happen anymore. The
people need to see you in the news, on shows like Larry King.
Please take over the presidency whenever we can get rid of our former president.
I was so very
Happy when I saw your recent C-SPAN hour on T.V.! My hopes were
rising when I heard you say all of the things that I know to be
true! I surely hope that you will consider taking over our
govt. as soon as the people are made aware of all of the misgivings
of both our President, our Vice President, and everyone of the people
in our government, who have been bribed, and are being bribed, in our
govt. You will win in our next election! I was also
gratified when you sited the things that Mr. John Kerry had stated on
T.V., about our newest addition to the Supreme Court, Judge

his judgments on Women and Blacks and Children. Please try to

Dear
Mr. Gore:
I
have written to you several times over the years imploring you to
run for president again, but this time, it is with a sense of urgency
I have not had before. George Bush and his cronies have taken
this country down a very dark and dangerous road, and we need the
strength of a true leader--the wisdom, experience, and intelligence
of someone like you--to put us back on the right track.
Actually, I amend that last statement: We don't need someone
like you; we need you.
We have
all paid a heavy price for the debacle of the 2000
"selection." I don't mean to minimize the personal
pain and suffering the SCOTUS decision brought on you and your
family. How you survived that and came out whole on the other
side is a mystery to me, but I believe it is further testament to the
strength and goodness of your character. I had hoped you would
run in 2004, and I was even part of the write-in effort in New
Hampshire and other states to get your name on the ballot. I
simply couldn't accept you not running again. I believe that,
unlike John Kerry, you would have won had you run. And I
believe that, if you were to run in 2008, you would win, despite
whatever dirty tricks the Republicans might have up their sleeves
this time.
Through
your many speeches around the country, and in particular your
magnificent speech on Jan. 16, 2006, Americans are again seeing what
they were cheated out of in 2000. They're seeing a leader of
true character, a man who understands the complexities of national
and international affairs, a person who isn't afraid to say what he
thinks. We are in sore need of someone like that.
Democrats need someone who will stand up to the Republicans.
And they need someone who will offer a real alternative to Hillary
Clinton and John Kerry, both of whom are severely handicapped, in my
opinion, by having voted for the resolution that gave Bush the power
to go to war in Iraq.
I
obviously have no way of knowing what is behind your public
statements that you don't expect to run again. If it's a
personal matter--that you've made your peace with what happened in
2000 and you want to move on--clearly it would be wrong for any of us
to meddle in the your private business. But I urge you, if
there is any thought at all on your part that you might like to run,
to please consider it very seriously.
We
need you, Mr. Gore. We truly need you.
Respectfully,
Karen in New Jersey

Dear
Mr. Gore,
Look at what
you started. Since your speech on Martin Luther King Jr. day the
democratic leadership has actually found a voice and started using
it. The party is lost without you, and when the party of the
people is lost, the country as a whole is lost as well. You
have the passion, the leadership, the record, the message, the morals
and values that we need to represent this country.
All
Americans want to be free, living on a healthy planet in peace and
security and you are the man to make that happen. No one else
will make the environment the same priority that you will, or defend
the freedoms of Americans and restore our standing in the world.
Please,
please, please * 1,000,000,000 consider running for President in
2008, I pledge to do whatever I can to help.
Also consider
John Edwards as a running mate, that ticket would be unstoppable!
Thanks
Dave

Mr.
Vice President:
What a great,
and noble ambition! In the political campaigns that culminated
with the election of 1860, there was a momentous occasion to celebrate.
All the major
political operatives in the young nation recognized the absolute
reality of rebellion within the Union. That there would be war
was a simple inevitability. Talk of states removing themselves
from the Union had been commonplace for well over four years.
Can you just imagine the fear festering inside the hearts of
Americans in that day?
Well, I
can. Right now.
And the
strange thing is, the politicial parties all put up candidates for
the office of President that they simply knew could not successfully
navigate the stormy waters of the day. It was the people who,
in a publicly announced campaign, drafted a young Illiinois Lawyer
from Springfield to run in direct opposition to his party's
leadership, and to the utter amazement of the leadership of the party
opposite. The people knew that the question was not about
war. The question was about the survival of the Union, and the
survival of our Nation. This tall, lanky, morose and
often-failed young Barrister/Legislator had no public appeal.
He had no history of success on any front, unless you consider his
100% losing rate at elections a successful endeavor.
But, something
about him rang true with the common man. People of high
position did not take notice of him. Those in power dismissed
him out of hand. But, it was the People who called him
forth. Why? Because, although war was inevitable, these
people knew that somehow, this man was greater than the issue of
State's Rights, or Economic Power. His simple ways told of a
greater truth that they could see. He was certainly reluctant
to answer the call, for many reasons that were entirely justified.
Yet, all the
while, he knew that in the end he must answer the call. Because
he knew it really wasn't about him at all. He did not share the
overwhelming belief of so many that he could safely steer the ship of
State. And, he certainly never envisioned the storms just over
the horizon. Yet, the decision was made before the question was
asked. And in the end, the people were correct. There was
just such a man as this--a man that could lead them safely through
the tumult of a Civil War. The War Between The States was not a
war OF this Nation; it was a war FOR this nation. Why?
Because one
man understood the reality. And no matter how fearsome, or
terrifying it might be, the simple farmboy from Kentucky never lost
sight of the guiding star of this nation. He surely paid a dear
price, and there was much loss endured. But, at the end of the
day, America stood. And, she stood taller, and stronger because
of the willingness of one man who, although completely unqualified to
the call, became completely qualified IN it.
The deserving
nation has withstood the test of time from that day until this.
And, now, she is calling again. Not for a face, or a
symbol. America, and Americans, are calling for a leader with
the vision to guide us through the storm that we have so willingly
navigated ourselves into. His people cry out to him.
Mr. Vice
President, I do so sincerely pray that you will hear our call, and
answer in the affirmative. I pledge myself to your cause, to do
the most menial tasks that you would allow. Not because I am a
Democrat. Not because I am a Kentuckian. Not even because
I am a Veteran. But, because I am an American, and that is my
just due. What a thrill it would be to actually BE an
American Citizen again, after so long in need of just such a
parole. Imprisoned not by brick and mortar, but rather by the
dangerous ideologies of one man who would be King.
Who am I to
ask this of you?
I am just a
man. A man who has, for over five decades now, proudly called
this land my home, my Nation. I have no "right"
to ask this terrible request of you, Mr. Vice President. And,
no one would fault you if you decline. But, in the greater
vision of what America truly is, and what she must shortly endure, I
believe with all my heart that you are not just a man. You are
our leader for this storm. Please lead us now, Mr. Vice President.
I cannot
guarantee your victory. But, over 300,000 Americans are right
here, standing immediately beside you, and your family. You are
the focus of our mind, and the center of our prayers. It is we
who call you now, Mr. Vice President, not a political
organization. It is we who summon you to lead this ship, not a
PAC. It is not America who calls, Sir. It is just
Americans, and those others from across this planet we all hold so
very dear who love the America that can be. Ours is not a
vision, but a dream. Ours is not a cause, but a hope.
Ours is not a call, but a prayer.
We need you
Mr. Vice President. Should you decide to lead us, you will have
the gratitude of a Nation. And, the deepest thanks of one
Kentucky hillbilly. I stand ready to serve you in whatever
capacity you should require. You may endure this storm at many
times by yourself, but I can guarantee you, Sir. You will NOT
be alone. You have my word on it. I subscribe to the
truth that your Father once shared with my Father when he said:
"Your word is good enough for me!" And, then they both went
and lived it out. So have you, Mr. Vice President. You need
feel no shame for such honorable service to your Nation. She is
much better today because of you.
You have
served. It is enough. You owe America absolutely nothing!
We, the
people, need you yet once again. Please listen to the cry of
these people. Please lead us, Mr. Vice President.
I
am, and remain,
Your
Humble Servant. Merlin Blair "Bud"

I sincerely
hope you will hear the call of the people. The people waking up in

Dear
Mr. Gore;
It has been a long six years... The country has seen great
challenges, and they confront us still. In the face of the
current leadership, I am most disturbed and feel the very faith of
this country is shaken to it's core as we stand poised to surrender
the very beliefs that make us one. I look at a great country,
filled with division, and I see that we are, indeed, a country of
great diversity. This diversity, perhaps more than anything
else, is testament to the greatness of the system that our
forefathers crafted. Large beyond it's borders, we contain and
thrive among the cultures of the broader world, as we have gathered
the souls of the those masses, yearning to breath free, and shared
with them, our promised land. I believe that it is important to
remember where the promises that make it so, reside. Your
speech was a powerful reminder, and I hope that it is heeded, but
this country is not only experiencing a "Constitutional
Crises." We face many. The greatest, and perhaps
root, is a "Leadership Crisis." I believe that you
see what is on the horizon for us, and though there are great wonders
to behold, we must move with caution, and judgment... As we
have grown large enough to crush many things underfoot if we are
childish and rash. America has grown up, and if it wishes to
the lead the world into the future, we will require the wisdom,
foresight and tolerance that is born of experience... You have
that experience Mr.Gore, and we need an adult in the white house.
I am encouraged to see your return to political headlines, and I
wish to beseech you to throw your hat in the ring, one more
time. America believes in second chances, it is the only way to
believe in righting wrongs... Please, give us a second chance.
Most
sincerely, James Minneapolis, Mn.

Heartfelt
reasons
Dear
Al,
all reason must have a purpose and a point of view. In todays
political environment it is hard to sift through the malaise of
intent and purpose of what Republicans are about. It is
so easy to intuit their motives as selfish and fear driven. A
man like yourself can make a difference in our world. You are
above the madness of ego and contempt for ideas that are contrary to
your own. You are unselfish in action and will bring our country the
healing necessary to ensure the greatness we espouse. In
America we await your step back into the limelight of destiny. You
have the whole picture of our purpose in the world among nations.
Please decide to be our leader once more.
Sincerely, Merritt

A
Brit's Impassioned Request...
Sir,
"It was
with great pleasure that I was fortuitous enough to come across a
transcript of your speech today at Constitution Hall. I would hope
with a sincere heart that the American people accomodate in their own
hearts a equally sincere adoption, the principles and warnings that
your speech contained but moreover, that they should heed your call
to utter their voice in thunderous opposition to the enslaving links
of legislative chains that have been hypnotically enwrapping
themselves around their birthright 'rights'.
An act of
terrorism, Sir, did not (per se) cause the occulted crisis of
constitution that is currently rumbling with threat to shake, and
crack open fissures deep in the foundation upon which America was
born; no, it became an infamous tragedy used to opportunistic
effect by self-serving interests whose 'end-of-time' has surely now come.
With this
speech you passionately spoke, you have lit a flame that with each
reading or hearing by your compatriots will, like beacons set ablaze
upon the peaks of hills and mountains old, signal the righteous cause
to voice. You have initiated a hoped for impetus, and with careful
handling in the reins, you can steer it to the bright and shining
conclusion that is not simply America's destiny, but also, your
belated own. Now is the beginning of your time, now is the occurrence
of your ascendency. You can, Sir, should you accept the role, become
America's favourite sun."
"Only by
returning to, and re-affirming the original constitutional framework
will America and its people deliver themselves from this threat. As I
have stated elsewhere on another forum: "...to be an American is
to follow a specific ideology, and that ideology is enshrined within
the very fabric of the Constitution."
I perceive,
sir, from your speech, that you embody the most noble aspects of your
country's foundational principles. You are, the 'living' form of your
constitution, and you share this embodiment with millions of
Americans whom are slowly being disenfranchised of both their rights
and their voice. I see nothing in you that inures you against your
country's ailing call. It is time, for you to be Washington, and in
that role, to take the field against George, whom would think himself
to be king. I pray you heed the call!"

Dear
Vice President Gore:
It was
truly my pleasure to work as a volunteer on your campaign in 1999 and
2000. I have had the pleasure of meeting you and your lovely wife
Tipper on several occasions.
During
1999 and 2000, I made sixteen trips to New Hampshire and three trips
to Maine to volunteer, and in the fall I worked as a staffer for the
Virginia Democratic Party in Roanoke and Amherst County. In December
of 2000, I served as an Alternate Elector here in Massachusetts.
In 2002,
with the help of several friends across the country, we founded
www.electgore04.com and sponsored the rally in Nashville on
6/14/2003. I would really appreciate the opportuntiy to work with
those wonderful people again toward the end of getting you elected.
In 2004, I got to see you once again as I was a Delegate to the
Democratic National Convention in Boston.
Dear Mr.
Vice President, this country needs your foresight and intellect to
guide us. I look forward to seeing you run again in 2008, and rest
assured that I will redouble my effort to make your Presidency come
to fruition.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Sincerely,

Dear
Mr. Gore,
am
writing you today to ask you to run for President again in 2008.
The intensity that I feel inside to reach out to you after hearing
your speech is hard to describe. I voted for you in 2000. The
debacle that occurred in that election left me numb and
disheartened. Being from Ohio, the 2004 election was also a big
disappointment as I felt that John Kerry was robbed in our state by
corrupted leaders. I have been in an abyss ever since. I
have walked around in a fog wondering how intelligent people could
get so sucked into the lies and deceit evident from the very
beginning of the first Bush campaign. I watched as fear and
greed seemed to rule the day - every day.
Your speech
spoke honestly about the problems and its solutions to the American
people, gave us hope, and energized us in a way that I did not think
possible. There is a way out but it will take a special type of
leader to do it. Just as FDR answered the call of history at a time
of great upheaval, your country needs you to do the same. As
citizens, we will do our duty as well and support you in every way we
can. We want our government back as our founding fathers intended!
You have given us a reason to hope again. Please consider running.
Sincerely,
Barb Brumbaugh Ohio

We
Need Al Gore
America wanted
Al Gore to be president in 2000. Heck, we elected him to the
office. If you dont believe that to be at least possibly
true, then Ive probably lost you already. But thats
small potatoes compared to what weve lost as a nation.
Think about it. Had Gore been president beginning in 2001, what
would have been different? Well, wed not have abandoned
the Kyoto Protocol, isolating ourselves from pretty much the rest of
the globe. Wed have responded to 9/11 very differently,
reaping the empathy of other nations and building a determined,
rational response to terrorism that might actually have lessened its
reach, rather than squandering the goodwill of nations and watering
the roots of hatred with our hubris. Domestically, wed
have strengthened environmental laws, ensuring a healthier future,
rather than gutting them, and leaving our children to deal with a
poisoned planet. Wed have begun earnest investment in
alternative, renewable energy, rather than giving yet more
concessions to big oil. Wed have preserved our natural
heritage rather than raping it to profit coal and timber
companies. Wed have responded to Katrina with competence,
rather than with the dithering of an unqualified crony, followed up
by the brutality of secretive paramilitary units. Wed
have had capable, forward thinking cabinet secretaries and other
high-ranking officials, rather than a bunch of profiteering corporate
frat boys bent only on exploiting the public domain for private gain.
But
theres something else, isnt there? Something
Im leaving out? Oh, yeah, we wouldnt have illegally
and immorally invaded a sovereign nation that posed us absolutely no
threat! Halliburton wouldnt be dictating our foreign
policy. Two thousand American and over a hundred thousand Iraqi
lives would not have been wasted, with no end in sight for either
number. Billions upon billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars wouldnt
be committed to an occupation half a globe away that promises no
happy ending for any party involved, no true democracy, no benefit,
no reason.
The
corporate culture of anything for a buck, and a quick buck at that,
has co-opted our democracy. America is more divided now than
ever before. We have a government of false advertising claims
Mission Accomplished, Clear Skies, Healthy Forests
rather than one of honest, benevolent policy. We have scare
tactics and fear-mongering rather than considered debate and
coalition building. We have saber rattling rather than wise
diplomacy. We have ignorance and arrogance, rather than insight and
accord. These oilmen who campaigned on a platform of values
have none worth defending. If Bush fulfilled his promise to fire
anyone in his administration guilty of an ethics violation, hed
have but a skeleton crew left - not to mention that hed then
have to fire himself.
American could
have done so much better. The world could have been so much
better off. The challenges we face are tremendous, no
doubt. Any president would have a difficult course to
chart. Terrorism while greatly exaggerated and in fact
exacerbated by the Bush Administration remains a real threat.
Global warming is not any longer a problem for more study, for future
generations to have to deal with. It is our present
reality. Oil depletion and its potentially catastrophic
economic and social consequences is perhaps the gravest threat
humanity has ever faced.
For these and
a thousand other crucial issues, we desperately need a competent,
thinking, president. We need a president who recognizes real
issues, and is willing to engage his administration and all of us in
making hard choices that matter. We do not need another
president who will distract us with staged acts of showmanship aboard
aircraft carriers, or socially divisive issues like gay marriage. The
simple, basic truth of the matter is that government has no business
interfering in the private life and death decisions we all as humans
must make. This includes birth, death, love and religion.
Individuals must be allowed to make these choices period.
Any politician who says otherwise either does not understand and
recognize - or, tragically, is seeking to distract attention from -
truly critical societal issues by artificially dividing the public
that is being trounced upon by the corporate machine. We do not
need another president who will pander to the worst in us.
Rather we need one who will appeal to the best in us, recognizing
that that is rarely the easiest path. We must recognize this
ourselves. Our problems are much greater than can be solved
with simple slogans. We must recognize that government by
corporate cronyism benefits the wealthiest 1% at the expense of the
rest of us. We must abandon superficial fixes, and sophomoric
reasoning (do you really still want to have a beer with W?). We
must recognize that we not only deserve, but very much need, a
statesman. In darker moments I have my doubts that any individual
could be up to the task at hand returning real democracy to
this nation, breaking the stronghold that corporations have over the
media, politicians and public life (exactly when did we go from being
citizens to being consumers?), steering us toward a
sustainable - even a livable future, which includes
transforming our energy use and reducing environmental destruction at
the same time. Those last two alone to be accomplished
in concert are a formidable pair. (It should be entirely
clear that the Bush-Cheney regime either knew or cared nothing about
this impending crisis.) When I emerge from those darker moments into
the light, I recognize that we had our chance at such an individual
once, and that we had better not let it be taken from us again.
We wanted Al Gore in 2000. We need him in 2008.
